Quality Standard 1.2

Setting clear goals in a toy library gives everyone a shared direction and makes it easier to turn good intentions into real outcomes. For example, a library might set a goal to “increase family memberships by 15% over the next six months by adding Saturday play sessions and improving newcomer sign-ups.” That kind of goal is specific, measurable, and tied to everyday actions—staff know what to focus on, volunteers understand how to help, and families see the benefit in new services. Clear goals also support better planning and evaluation: you can track progress, celebrate wins, and adjust quickly if something isn’t working. Ultimately, when goals are well defined, toy libraries can use their time, budget, and community energy in the most meaningful way for children and caregivers.
Play is where curiosity stretches its legs and joy finds its rhythm. It’s the moment we forget the clock, follow a spark of imagination, and let laughter lead the way. Through play, ideas tumble freely, confidence grows quietly, and connections form without effort. Whether it’s building, pretending, exploring, or simply having fun together, play reminds us that learning can be light, creativity can be shared, and happiness often begins with saying “let’s try.”
