Volunteering project sites announced: 20 toy libraries creating volunteering and community connectedness.

Updated: Oct 13

Progress has begun on the Stronger and Resilient Communities (SARC)- Volunteering project. Building on the benefits reported from Northam Toy Library in WA’s previous engagement with children from the local high school. Pilot toy libraries are connecting with local organisations to provide opportunities to our target groups to find meaningful and valuable volunteering opportunities while ensuring our toy libraries have volunteers to undertake many of the required tasks to ensure that toy libraries remain a sustainable part of their community.

After creating an expression of interest process for the program the TLA volunteering project teams first and probably one of the most challenging tasks was to narrow down these to only 20 sites across Australia. Through this process toy libraries identified their key target group, potential partner organisation and a basic overview of their project ideas. The project team were blown away by the amazing way their interested toy libraries were planning to participate.

Toy Library Australia would like to announce our successful pilot sites for this program.

Behishta Anwar will be leading our toy libraries working with migrant women experiencing isolation. Congratulations to the following toy libraries in this stream of the program:

Adelle Suitor and Catherine Zoppolato will be supporting the toy libraries working with teenagers and young adults who have a disability. Congratulations to the following toy libraries in this stream of the program:

The project team has already begun screening training opportunities, creating documents and support materials for our pilot sites to trial with the plans to roll these resources out to all Toy Libraries at the end of project.
