Accessible Story Guide

Our toy library community has shared that they'd love more ways to welcome and easily explain how things work to their members. Some toy libraries have even created social stories to help explain how things work in a simple, friendly way.

To support this, Toy Libraries Australia has put together some resources and a guide to help toy libraries create their own supportive communication tools.

  • Accessible Story Guide

  • Our accessible story example (view only)

  • Accessible story template

Our guide asks sites to consider creating an 'accessible story' rather than a 'social story'. The guide aims to make the reasons why clear, while also supporting you to create an alternative, with links to templates.

We acknowledge the toy libraries who have already taken time and care to create social stories for their members. We hope these new resources help you to fine tune what you've already created.

We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present, and to the children who are the leaders of tomorrow.
