We’re thrilled to announce support for the people that are the driving force and heart of our community toy libraries. This week, Toy Libraries Australia awarded travel subsidies to 18 dedicated leaders from toy libraries across the country.
Funding from DSS has enabled targeted support for Rural and Remote communities (Ballarat, Yeppoon, Toowoomba and Wangaratta) and those involved in projects which promote diversity and inclusion (Ocean Grove). Additional subsidies have been made possible due to generous donations from our members and supporters.
These subsidies will enable toy library volunteers and staff from outside of WA join us in Perth/Boorloo this August for our much-anticipated National Training Weekend.
Whilst this subsidy will only address one of the many barriers — such as distance, time away from family and work, and the costs of travel and accommodation — we know how much individuals, their toy libraries, and their communities benefit from joining the wider toy library community for training. We are thrilled that lowering the financial burden has opened this opportunity for 18 dedicated leaders, making it possible for passionate toy librarians and committee members — who give so much to their local communities — to come together to learn, share ideas, and strengthen their networks.
The National Training Weekend is a highlight of our calendar: a chance to explore new ideas, gain practical skills, and celebrate the role of play in children’s lives. This year, it’s even more special knowing we can welcome voices and experiences from every corner of Australia.
Congratulations to:

Your generosity helps create a stronger, more inclusive toy library movement.
We can’t wait to see everyone in Perth/Boorloo!
