July 22nd was a momentous week for the Toy Well program with three new Toy Wells opening in three different states.

The week started with the official opening of the Karrendi Toy Well in Salisbury Adelaide. Where we were privileged to have Amanda Rishworth MP perform the official opening of the toy library. Check out the opening here

The following day, St Brendan’s Toy Well in Moorooka Brisbane was opened and we were delighted to have coverage of the opening by Indoz TV station.  IndozTV is an Australia-based, community-oriented, HD TV channel providing infotainment to viewers around Austalia and internationally.  Transmitting in predominately Punjabi and Tamal we’re hoping Indoz will further spread the benefits of joining a toy library to these communities. You can view the Indoz story here

Both of these Toy Well sites were made possible thanks to grants from the Dept of Social Services.

The week ended with the opening of Deer Park North Toy Well in Melbourne.  This is the second Toy Well toy library to open in the Brimbank Council area.  Brimbank is the second largest municipality in Melbourne. It is culturally diverse with about 43% of the population being born overseas.  Assistant Principal, Francisco Quimbo spoke at the opening of his fond memories of his children borrowing toys from the Albion Toy Library and encouraged families to borrow and play at home.  The Deer Park Toy Well was made possible thanks to the Victorian Department of Education New Toy Library grant.
