It is with much joy that we announce our collaboration with Reconciliation Australia in developing our Inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Toy Libraries Australia’s vision is that ‘all communities can access a quality toy library’. To us this means that our member toy libraries create a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all children and that we specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. Toy libraries are also a place where non-Indigenous children can learn about the cultures of First Nations Peoples through play. To map out the plans needed on the journey towards meeting our vision we have developed our inaugural RAP.
Our Reflect RAP involves actions that will inform the work of our staff and board and will also provide tools and resources for our members.
As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan development we have been fortunate to work with Mayi woman, Leah Cummins, Bunya Designs. Leah has very generously shared her work with us, Leah states that she shares her work with us "with love and harmony", we are truly grateful for her beautiful and playful work, and deeply appreciate her contribution to our reconciliation journey.
