Having clear goals means that everyone can work together with a sense of common purpose. You need to let both your toy library members and stakeholders outside your organisation know about your aims - what you are trying to achieve and why.
A strategic plan is a really great way to identify where the toy library wants to go, how they will get there and when they want to do what
Start with your community
Keep your Community Snapshot (1.1) in mind as you plan; your goals should match local needs.
Confirm your direction
Purpose: Why do we exist?
Vision: What do we want to create or achieve?
Work out where you are now
Use the self-assessment and action plan to check your current strengths, gaps, and priorities. You may also like to look at your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats through a SWOT analysis.
Set your goals
Pick 3–5 goals for the year (or plan period). Make sure they are "SMART" goals:
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Relevant
Time-based
Plan the “how”
For each goal, list:
Key actions (what you’ll do)
Measures of success (how you’ll know it’s working)
When you plan on doing them
